Recap: Scott Kazmir Struggles in Dodgers 9-0 Loss vs. Red Sox

The Los Angeles Dodgers honored Boston Red Sox, David “Big Papi” Ortiz before Friday night’s game.  The Dodgers also donated $10,000 to The Ortiz’s Children’s foundation. Ortiz will retire after the 2016 season after 20 years in the MLB.

During the pregame festivities, he was joined on the field by former teammates Adrian Gonzalez, Dave Roberts and Nomar GarciaParra.



Scott Kazmir got the start on the mound for the Dodgers.

During the bottom of the first, Justin Turner doubles to Red Sox’s right fielder, Mookie Betts. Josh Reddick batted next, but ended the first inning after hitting a fly out to center field. In the top of the third, the Red Sox already with the lead, Betts hits a homer to left field and the Red Sox lead 2-0.  The Dodgers failed to score during the third inning as Corey Seager closed it out.

Top of the 6th Kazmir had back to back walks, which ended his night. Kazmir struggled in his outing.

Top of the 7th the Dodgers hadn’t had a hit since Turner’s double. By the 8th inning, the Red Sox had notched 8 runs on 9 hits in the game. The Dodgers offensive struggles continued, Jesse Chavez mades his debut as a Dodger, but the Red Sox went on to win 9-0.

Kazmir drops to 9-5 after 5.1 innings pitched with 4 errors, and only 2 strikeouts on 91 pitches.

The Dodgers are 60-49 this season and 33-21 at home. The Dodgers will face the Red Sox for two more games at Dodger Stadium.
