Series Recap: Injuries Plague Dodgers As Giants Take 3 Of 4

NewDodgersNation_Store300x300[2]It was an ugly weekend at Dodger Stadium as the Blue Crew dropped three of four s to the Giants. Very few Dodger regulars got into the action this weekend as Hanley Ramirez had to leave Thursday’s game and missed the rest of the series with an irritated nerve in his back.

Andre Ethier left Friday’s game after aggravating a sore ankle and also missed the rest of the series. Carl Crawford left Saturday’s game with back tightness that forced him to sit out Sunday’s finale. To add insult to injury, Yasiel Puig didn’t start on Sunday due to a sore hip, but he came in to pinch hit in the ninth inning.

Other than Saturday’s disastrous 19-3 bashing, all of the games in the series were decided by one run. The Dodgers won the first game of the series 3-2 when Adrian Gonzalez drove in Puig with a walk-off single in the 1oth inning. Zack Greinke pitched six innings of one run ball and six Dodger relievers combined for four scoreless innings, while Brian Wilson got the win against his fomer team.

It seemed like everything would keep rolling along Friday night with Clayton Kershaw on the hill. It was a wonderful pitchers’ duel between Kershaw and Giants’ starter Madison Bumgarner. The Dodgers finally got to Bumgarner when Juan Uribe hit his 11th home run of the year in the sixth inning to give the Dodgers a 2-0 lead.

However, Kershaw unraveled in the seventh, allowing three consecutive singles before allowing a go-ahead 2-run single to Brett Pill and the Dodgers lost 4-2.
