Spring Training Recap: Corey Seager Hits Walkoff Double In 9th

The left-handed Adam Liberatore came out to pitch the top of the sixth for the Dodgers. He gave up a single to Logan Schafer. Shane Peterson hit a comebacker to Liberatore who made the play at second, but Seager’s throw to first wasn’t on time. Bryan Peterson flied out to Matt Carson in left field. Maldonado hit a single to left field to put two on with two outs for the Brewers. But Gimenez stranded both runners with a pop fly to Seager to end the inning.



Will Smith came out to pitch the bottom of the frame for the Brewers and struck out Kyle Jensen swinging for the first out. Erisbel Arruebarrena grounded to third for the second out. But O’Koyea Dickson continued his hot hitting with a single to left. Darnell Sweeney struck out swinging for the third out, and after six innings, the Dodgers were still down 2-1.

Josh Ravin was the Dodgers pitcher in the seventh. He was off to a good start with a strikeout of Hector Gomez and Hunter Morris with a nice variety of breaking ball pitches. Pete Orr then flied out to Matt Carson in left to cap off a nice inning for Ravin.

Pitching in the bottom seventh was Michael Blazek. Matt Carson grounded out to shortstop for the Dodgers first out. Schebler flied out to left for the second out, finishing 0-for-3. The Dodgers were retired in order as Corey Seager went down swinging. After seven, the Brewers remained up by one run.

Daniel Coulombe, the lefty pitcher was on the hill for the eighth innning. Herrera and Schaffer grounded out for two quick outs. Shane Peterson hit a double to left field, but the threat was over when Peterson flied out to Carson in left.

In the bottom of the inning, the offense got a runner on for Jensen, who deposited a pitch over the wall in left field to give the Dodgers a 3-2 lead.

Ryan Buchter came one to try to close things out for the Dodgers, but he allowed a one-out home run to Matt Clark on an 0-2 pitch to let the Brewers tie things up.

Sweeney started the inning with an infield single, but had to be removed from the game after colliding with the first baseman. A sacrifice bunt put pinch-runner Jarek Cunningham at second. A misplay by the Brewers allowed Seager to come up with two runners on. Seager won the game with a double to deep center off the glove of the center fielder. Dodgers won 4-3.
