Stories By Scully: Vin Scully Reflects on His Career and Legacy | VIDEO

Before the Los Angeles Dodgers closed out the series vs. the Atlanta Braves on Sunday, Dodgers announcer Vin Scully reflected on his career and legacy in an interview with Braves broadcaster Chip Caray. Scully talks about the first game he ever broadcasted back in 1950, the move from New York to Los Angeles and more.

Scully is entering his 67th and final year as the Dodgers broadcaster and is considered a “Baseball Encyclopedia”.

Scully will be turning 89-years-old on November 29th and said that played a factor in his decision to retire after the 2016 season.

“All of the sudden I noticed the players were calling me Mr.,” said Scully. “And then I finally thought you know what if I tried to work next year I’d be coming up 90, and that doesn’t make sense at all.”

The Dodgers will be honoring Scully later this season with a bobblehead night as well as a Vin Scully Appreciation Night just a a few days before his birthday.

Scully went on to say what he would miss the most is “the roar of the crowd”. The Dodgers last home game is on September 25th vs. the Colorado Rockies. The Boys in Blue will then close out the 2016 regular-season on the road facing the San Francisco Giants in a 3-game series.

It is still unclear if Scully will finish out his illustrious career at home or on the road.
