Twins Manager Puts Dodgers’ Tyler Glasnow Among Best Pitchers in Baseball

Los Angeles Dodgers ace Tyler Glasnow dazzled everyone with his best performance as a Dodger in his fourth start of the 2024 season. The 30-year-old was as dominant as we’ll probably ever see him, leading the Dodgers to an NL-leading 10th win.

Dodger and baseball fans everywhere were amazed by his performance, including Minnesota Twins manager Rocco Baldelli.

After the game, Baldelli told reporters, including Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, that Glasnow is among the best pitchers in the league when he’s right.

“If he’s executing pitches the way he did today, he probably beats any team in baseball on any given night. I don’t know if there’s a better pitcher in baseball when he’s in good form.”

Glasnow had his best start of the season and possibly his best start since 2021. Manager Dave Roberts also praised the ace after his best performance of the season.

“That was as dominant as we’ve seen him all year. To have a guy that can shut a team out — and you can throw up a couple crooked numbers and win the ballgame and save a lot of your leverage (bullpen) guys — it’s certainly comforting and exciting.”

“You look at the big leagues, he’s an ace for any team,” Roberts said. “He demonstrated that tonight, I thought.”

The tall right-handed pitcher was dominant from the start and continued that hot start through seven innings. He only allowed three hits, zero earned runs, zero walks, and tied a career-high 14 strikeouts on 88 pitches. The last time he recorded 14 strikeouts was on April 12, 2021.

He was feeling right and spoke on that with reporters after the game.

“I felt just a lot more balanced today. I think just everything like my direction going towards home was more consistent than normal and I think everything was able to tunnel off of it. I think even the couple misfires were misfires in the zone, so (I was) just being able to throw more strikes and get ahead of guys.”

Baseball people know Glasnow has elite stuff. However, the 30-year-old is getting even more recognized in the baseball world now that he’s healthy and pitching for a Dodgers team that regularly draws global attention. We should see these types of performances more often when he hits the mound.
