Will Smith Reacts to Shohei Ohtani Joining the Dodgers

The headline news across all sports this past weekend was the news that free-agent two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani would be joining the Dodgers. The two sides agreed to a 10-year contract that is worth $700 million, setting records along the way.

The Dodgers now land the most coveted free agent in sports history, and they finally get their man. They have been going after Ohtani since he was in high school, and the third time is really the charm for them.

His dynamic abilities are unlike anything we’ve ever seen before, and he will add more than just strong baseball skills to the team. His presence alone brings value to this team, and the Dodger brand is only going to increase tenfold.

Like so many this weekend, Dodgers catcher Will Smith joined MLB Network Radio to discuss and give his reaction to Ohtani choosing Los Angeles.

“I was excited. You know, any chance you get to add great talent around you to make the team better is fun and is exciting. He’s the best player in baseball so no doubt we got better as a team.”

Once Ohtani returns to the mound, Smith will likely be the one catching him. He understands the talent that the Dodgers just brought in and how that impacts their chances of winning next year.

Ohtani is the best designated hitter in the game today and he will be focusing strictly on hitting this coming season while he recovering from a torn UCL.

Ohtani is a once-in-a-lifetime type of player, and now he’s a member of the Dodgers for the foreseeable future. Sho Time is here LA fans, and it’s going to be exciting!

  1. We still have to win as a team especially after last years playoffs. Everyone has to have the eye of the tiger Dave Robert’s. I am sure Mr. Ohtani will set the example. Been a Dodgers fan for over sixty years. Go Dodgers
