Thompson Hits Career Milestone in 7-6 Loss to Angels

The Los Angeles Dodgers fell to the Angels 7-6 late Monday night despite a strong performance by Trayce Thompson. The Dodgers comeback fell short and the team loses Adrian Gonzalez going into the top of the 6th inning.

The Dodgers headed into the 4-game series with the Angels without Yasiel Puig or Justin Turner who received the day off.

The day started strong with Kenta Maeda on the mound for the Dodgers.

Unfortunately, the Dodgers found themselves down going to the bottom of the 4th.

This led to a pitching change for the Dodgers.

Then Trayce Thompson looked to change the conversation hitting a solo home run bottom of the 4th.

Unfortunately, three innings later the Dodgers found themselves down 7-3. Then in the bottom of the 8th Thompson hit a career milestone.

From Jack Baer, MLB.com:

Thompson entered Monday’s game slugging .783 in May and still managed to improve that mark with his first career multi-homer game. Both big flies were 100-plus-mph rockets to left field and gave Thompson five home runs on the month, despite only seven starts and 27 plate appearances in that span.

Thompson’s individual performance wasn’t enough to get the Boys in Blue the win as they fall 7-6, but he adds to the young core of talent. Corey Seager also notched his first multi-home run game of his career on Sunday vs. the Cardinals.

The Dodgers will look to tie the series at home vs the Angels on Tuesday.
