Trending Up:

Andre Ethier: Because of a lingering hamstring injury to Yasiel Puig, “Captain Clutch” has received additional plate appearances, and he’s certainly making the most of them. In six games this week (three starts), Ethier reached base 10 times, slugging a home run, double and six total hits. As a result, his batting line soared to a stellar .342/.435/.605.

Alex Guerrero: Despite Guerrero only getting eight at-bats this week (two of them coming as a pinch-hitter), he knocked four extra-base hits, including a game-tying, towering home run against Madison Bumgarner.

Guerrero even drew his first career Major-League walk and looked serviceable on the field at third base. With the month of May approaching, his batting line sits at a stunning .500/.500/1.273.

Joc Pederson: Starting in all but one game this week, Pederson continued reaching base at an impressive rate, notching three hits and drawing five walks in 21 plate appearances (.381 on-base percentage). In addition to elite defense in center field, his already-superb batting line stayed steady at .275/.441/.471.

Honorable Mentions:

Zack Greinke: Having already dominated the Padres in his first start of the season (6.0 IP, 2 H, 1 ER), Greinke continued that trend, allowing seven base runners and zero earned runs in seven innings pitched while picking up his third win of the year.

Yimi Garcia: Appearing in a couple of high-leverage situations this week, Garcia did not disappoint. In 2.1 innings pitched, he did not allow a hit, while walking two and striking out four. He is emerging as a legitimate late-inning option for the Dodgers moving forward.

Juan Uribe: While much of the focus has been on Guerrero’s emergence as a hitter, Uribe is quietly sporting an eight-game hitting streak (8-for-28) entering play Monday, though in each game, he’s only tallied one hit. It’s a sign of progress, however, and his defense at third base remains excellent.
