Twitter Reaction To Dodgers Expected Hire Of Farhan Zaidi

Farhan Zaidi

The Los Angeles Dodgers responded to their NLDS exit by hiring Andrew Friedman as president of baseball operations, which was a position the team created for the highly-touted executive.

While prying Friedman out of Tampa Bay was largely considered a major coup for the Dodgers, they still faced questions regarding other front office positions. Among them is general manager as Ned Colletti was reassigned to a role as a special advisor to team president and CEO, Stan Kasten.

After reports had the Dodgers contacting Josh Byrnes, Chad MacDonald and Farhan Zaidi within the last two weeks, they reportedly have settled on Zaidi to become their new GM. Zaidi will join the Dodgers after spending 10 seasons with the Oakland Athletics.

Zaidi served as the Athletics’ assistant general manager and director of baseball operations, and fits the mold of another executive with a strong background in analytics. Though the Dodgers are not yet done reconfiguring their front office, their moves thus far earned plenty of praise across Twitter.

Prior to the report Zaidi will join the Dodgers, Peter Gammons thought highly of what may come to fruition:

Rany Jazayerli, who has written for Grantland, shared his thoughts on the hire:

Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports believes the Dodgers have assembled a juggernaut of sorts in the front office:

Ryan Theriot wasn’t quite as enthusiastic over the hire:
