Updated Rankings Of Dodgers Top Prospects

I thought it was prudent to wait until after the trade deadline to update the list, given the fact that rumors were swirling about the Los Angeles Dodgers possibly moving some of their top prospects.

This is more a stock report than a representation of talent level, since production fluctuates far more than actual ability. So, without further ado, here’s an update on the Dodgers’ top 25 Prospects.

1. Corey Seager

Seager has been one of the best performers in the Minors this season. Overall, he’s batting .350 with 39 doubles and 19 home runs through 94 games. His defense has improved at shortstop and the Dodgers seem intent that he’ll at least begin his Major League career there.

2. Julio Urias

Along with Seager, Urias represented the Dodgers in the Futures Game during All-Star weekend. The southpaw has struck out 73 batters in 63.1 innings while posting a 2.84 ERA. For some additional perspective, he turns 18 on Aug. 12.

3. Joc Pederson

Pederson was one of the hottest hitters in baseball in April, batting nearly .400 with eight doubles and six home runs. His production has slightly dropped since then and his strikeouts have risen.

However, he’s still one of the best hitters in the Minors and the Dodgers need to make room for him on the big club.

4. Grant Holmes

No one expected Holmes to fall to the Dodgers in this year’s draft, and he’s showing why in his debut. The 18 year old righty has dominated opposing batters in his first 20 innings, striking out 23, walking just five and allowing a measly 2.25 ERA.

5. Alex Guerrero

Guerrero was on a tear before having part of his ear bitten off by former teammate Miguel Olivo. He’s healthy and back in Albuquerque, though his offense isn’t back to where it was before the injury. He’s playing all over the infield and even in left because the Dodgers want to find a spot for his bat.

  1. what about Jose Dominguez, how has he been doing (is he still a prospect despite appearance last year in Majors?)

  2. Schebler to another team ? Perish the thought. I got him even with Joc Pederson !
