We can all see that Broxton’s velocity has gone down and that he’s not nearly as dominate. Hitters aren’t being fooled and can sense his lack of confidence. One fan put together a nice little video of how impressive Broxton has been:

So what is the status of Broxton’s role as closer?

Earlier today, Ned and TV analysts claimed that Broxton has been removed as the primary closer. However, Don Mattingly has told Broxton otherwise. I personally have confidence in Broxton, however I’m not against the idea of opening up the closer role to another candidate. This would take a little pressure off Broxton, giving him a chance to work on that confidence and become the dominate closer he was before.

Hopefully, we have a save situation tonight and see who our closer is after all.
