VIDEO: Butera And Gonzalez Lead World Cup Match At Dodger Stadium

With the World Cup reaching the knockout stage, some Los Angeles Dodgers put together their own soccer match at Dodger Stadium prior to Saturday’s game with the St. Louis Cardinals.

Among the participants were Drew Butera, Adrian Gonzalez and Scott Van Slyke. Saturday was the second day the Dodgers were partaking in some form of soccer activity. It didn’t work out well for them Friday as they went on to lose the game, 3-1.

However, Saturday was a different story. The Dodgers scored a season-high six runs in the second inning as they cruised to a 9-1 win over the Cardinals. Zack Greinke, who did not participate in the Dodgers’ version of a World Cup match, struck out 10 over seven innings.

Gonzalez and Yasiel Puig have both supported Mexico as they make their way through the World Cup. According to reports, both players have celebrated Mexico’s goals and wins when the Dodgers have had the opportunity to watch matches before their games.
