VIDEO: Clayton Kershaw Throws Eight Shutout Innings Vs. Royals

In his first start since throwing his first career no-hitter, Clayton Kershaw took the mound against the Kansas City Royals as the Los Angeles Dodgers were looking to rebound from a loss.

With a Dodger lineup absent of multiple regular starters, Kershaw was under pressure to hold the Royals offense quiet.

Runs were hard to come by for both teams, as Kershaw protected a 1-0 Dodger lead throughout the night. The Dodgers eventually added an insurance run in the ninth and held out to give Kershaw his eighth win of the season.

Kershaw has been in a groove lately and has continued to turn in dominant outings. With eight shutout innings against the Royals, Kershaw increased his consecutive scoreless innings streak to 21. The last time Kershaw allowed a run was June 13 when the Arizona Diamondbacks scored in the fourth inning.
