Video: Dodger Stadium Crowd Gives Vin Scully Standing Ovation

It was his night and he didn’t even mention it on the air, but last night at Dodger Stadium was Vin Scully bobblehead night.

The 85-year-old Hall of Fame broadcaster had a night planned for him and in announcing the enormous crowd on Thursday night, he made no mention of the reason they were all there, him.

The Dodgers returned home from a six-game road trip and since Scully doesn’t travel with the team like he did in his earlier years, it was another night to listen to him.

As he’s gotten older, Scully has reduced his travel schedule to Arizona, San Diego and San Francisco with a trip to the east coast in 2010 thrown in.

With the Dodgers going through turmoil for much of the decade with owner Frank McCourt and two NLCS losses, time is running out for Scully to see another Dodgers World Series in the broadcast booth.

However, if anyone could keep him in the booth it’d be Dodger Yasiel Puig, who Scully lights up for everytime he does something spectacular.

In between innings of last night’s game, the Dodger Stadium crowd rose to their feet when Scully was shown on the scoreboard.

Here’s the video of Scully thanking the Dodger Stadium crowd last night:
