VIDEO: Dodgers Give Scott Van Slyke A ‘Hot Foot’ In Dugout Prank

The Los Angeles Dodgers didn’t get their first hit off St. Louis Cardinals starter Shelby Miller until the fourth inning. It came in an unorthodox manner — an Adrian Gonzalez bunt single — but it was all the Dodgers needed to get going.

The Dodgers scored two runs in the fourth and were on their way to a win as Clayton Kershaw continued to shutout the Cardinals. They added to their lead in the fifth inning, capped off by an Andre Ethier three-run home run.

With a comfortable lead in the seventh inning, some of the Dodgers in the dugout shifted their attention to playing a prank. The victim would be Scott Van Slyke, who had matches held against the back of his right cleat with gum.

After some patience, Adrian Gonzalez lit the matches and Van Slyke reacted to the smell that filled the area, but was unaware he was the source of it. Moments later Van Slyke realized what had transpired and he kicked the matches off his cleat.
