VIDEO: Final Out Of Josh Beckett’s First Career No-Hitter

The Los Angeles Dodgers entered Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies with plenty of uncertainty surrounding the team. Matt Kemp was out of the lineup for the third consecutive game and reports surfaced Hanley Ramirez’s calf soreness may be an Achilles injury and he’ll likely undergo an MRI once the team returns to Los Angeles.

Beckett took the mound on an unassuming day at Citizens Bank Park and made history by the time the final out was recorded. The right-hander worked his way through the game, walking two batters, but carrying a no-hitter into the bottom of the ninth inning on 100 pitches.

Beckett recorded the first two outs of the inning then walked Jimmy Rollins as the anticipation in the crowd could be heard on every pitch. Chase Utley then worked a 3-1 count and thought he had a walk on a backdoor slider that caught the corner for strike two.

On his 128th pitch of the game, Beckett, who has relied on his breaking ball this season at the suggestion of A.J. Ellis, froze Utley with a 94 MPH fastball for strike three to get his first career no-hitter as the Dodgers won 6-0.
