VIDEO: Hanley Ramirez Makes Diving Stop Vs. D-Backs

Hanley Ramirez returned to the Los Angeles Dodgers’ lineup Sunday, though based on his level of production at the plate in three games, you’d hardly notice he’s back from a strained oblique.

Thus far, the 30 year old has gone 1-for-12 with five strikeouts since being reinstated from the disabled list. As a result, his batting average now sits at .270, which is the lowest it’s been since June 22.

However defensively, Ramirez hasn’t gone quite as unnoticeable, which is both a positive and negative for the shortstop. In his first game, Ramirez’s poor throw over to first base extended the inning for the New York Mets and they wound up adding to their lead with a home run.

Ramirez then flashed the leather in Tuesday’s win over the Arizona Diamondbacks with a quick glove toss to Dee Gordon for a force out at second base. The shortstop followed it up with a diving stop and throw to get Tuffy Gosewisch in the second inning of Wednesday’s game.

Ramirez is said to be at last playing without pain, which should bode well for the Dodgers both defensively and offensively as the postseason draws closer by the day.
