VIDEO: Matt Kemp Scores On Wild Pitch Vs. Padres

Through the first two games of their series against the San Diego Padres, the Los Angeles Dodgers were unable to generate much offensively and suffered consecutive losses in extra innings.

Hyun-Jin Ryu returned from the disabled list Sunday and he gave the Dodgers a boost as he shut the Padres down over seven innings of work. The Dodgers saw their 1-0 lead erased in the bottom of the first inning, but they managed to take a 2-1 lead in the fifth before erupting for four runs in the eighth.

Following an Adrian Gonzalez leadoff single, Matt Kemp doubled down the left field line and the Dodgers had two runners in scoring position with no outs. Carl Crawford drew a pinch-hit walk and Juan Uribe moved the Dodgers station to station with an RBI single.

Jesse Hahn then relieved Alex Torres and the first batter he faced was A.J. Ellis. Hahn threw a wild pitch on a 2-1 count, which allowed Kemp to break for home plate. Yasmani Grandal retrieved the ball rather quickly and threw to Hahn moments before Kemp went into his head-first slide.

Kemp baited Hahn’s tag by sticking out his left hand, only to pull it back and circle around the pitcher’s glove to score. The Dodgers took a 4-1 lead on the play and finished the inning with a 6-1 lead.
