VIDEO: Miguel Rojas And Adrian Gonzalez Save Kershaw’s No-Hitter

Clayton Kershaw threw his first career no-hitter Wednesday, getting 15 of the 27 outs on strikeouts. Kershaw breezed through the Colorado Rockies lineup without needing much help from defense aside from routine plays.

The combination of Kershaw’s dominance and steady defensive play resulted in the left-hander taking a perfect game into the seventh inning. Corey Dickerson led off for the Rockies and he hit a slow chopper to Hanley Ramirez that he was able to cleanly come up with before throwing it away.

The error broke up Kershaw’s bid for a perfect game, but still left his no-hitter intact. Kershaw struck out the following batter, then faced the dangerous Troy Tulowitzki.

On Kershaw’s first offering, the Rockies’ biggest threat hit a hard chopper that sent Rojas one step into foul territory at the edge of the dirt and he uncorked a throw that Adrian Gonzalez picked to get the first out of the inning.

The play prevented the Rockies from tallying what would have been their lone hit on the night. Rojas also added a three-run double in the third inning of the Dodgers’ 8-0 win.
