Video: Vin Scully Discusses “Free Hugs” During Giants-Dodgers Game

The best part of the Dodgers playing NL West teams down the stretch is getting to listen to Vin Scully call almost every single September game (he doesn’t travel to Colorado).

Scully made everyone around baseball and especially Dodger fans happy earlier in the year when he announced that he was coming back for another season. While he won’t be able to call playoff games on TV, Vin said he’ll be calling the first three and last three games on the radio as the Dodgers go for their first World Series title since 1988.



Every night that Scully calls a game, you definitely learn something new or hear a new story that only he could articulate and make you appreciate. In last night’s game against the Giants, Scully talked about how he walked into a clothing store and thought Dodgers reliever Brian Wilson was in the same store.

Without hesitation, Scully walked over to the man, but when he saw that he didn’t have the ponytail at the end of his beard, he knew it wasn’t the same person. However, during the same stroll through San Francisco, Vin walked by a group of 50-75 college girls offering “Free Hugs” and here’s the story that unfolded:

    I’m pretty sure “innings” is the word you are looking for.
