VIDEO: Yasiel Puig Extends Hitting Streak To 15 Games With Home Run
With a 14-game hitting streak, Yasiel Puig’s first at-bat Friday night against Arizona Diamondbacks starter Wade Miley, as he fouled-out on the first pitch he saw.
Puig’s next at-bat came in the third inning with one out and the game still knotted at 0-0. The right fielder showed much more patience and worked the count to 2-2. Puig then hit a Miley fastball into the right-center field stands to give the Los Angeles Dodgers a 1-0 lead and the homer extended his hitting streak to 15 games.
The home run also marked the seventh consecutive game Puig has had an extra-base hit and RBI. While the majority of the Dodgers have struggled to find their footing at the plate, Puig has almost single-handedly continued to power the offense.
Puig has shown significant improvement in his patience and approach in at-bats, particularly with runners in scoring position. His hitting has led to manger Don Mattingly recently labeling his outfielder as someone who is more than capable of collecting RBIs.
