VIDEO: Yasiel Puig Wears Cleats to Honor Vin Scully

The Los Angeles Dodgers closed out the series on Sunday night with a 6-5 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Dodgers now have a off day on Monday before their 3-game series vs. the Washington Nationals.

The Dodgers next home game is July 26th, which means Dodger fans will have to wait until then to hear Vin Scully in the booth. Scully is in the middle of his final season with the Dodgers.

Vin Scully’s 10 Greatest Broadcasting Calls: No. 10-6

All year #Win4Vin has been trending on Twitter especially throughout Dodgers games looking to give players extra motivation.

Yasiel Puig got the message loud and clear.

During Sunday night’s game vs. the Diamondbacks Puig wore #ITFDB #WinForVin cleats.

Puig was showing respect to the legendary announcer who is in his 67th season as the “Voice of the Dodgers”. Looking closely at the cleats you can see “Puig” on Scully‘s forehead.

The Long Goodbye to Vin Scully

The Dodgers are 52-42 are 5.5 games back from first place in the NL West. As for Scully he enters his final second half of the MLB season. Scully has said on multiple occasions that what he will miss the most is the “roar of the crowd”.

Scully is still undecided if he will close out his career at Dodger Stadium or on the road in San Francisco. He turned down the invitation to attend the September Dodgers-Yankees series in New York.

The Dodgers will hand out a Vin Scully bobblehead on Sept. 20 vs. the San Francisco Giants. They will also host a “Vin Scully Appreciation Night” on Sept. 23 vs. the Colorado Rockies to go along with Friday Night fireworks.
