The Dodgers were not able to take the series opener against the San Diego Padres on Friday, losing the game with a final score of 4-3. On top of the loss, a very scary moment came in the bottom of the 4th with Rich Hill at the plate.
Hill was looking to bunt when a fastball thrown by Clayton Richard came screaming for his neck. This comes just an inning after Richard hit Justin Turner in the knee to load the bases.
I’m not sure how, but Rich Hill was able to recover and take the bag. Not only that, but he stayed in the game to pitch, going 6 innings and giving up just 2 runs.
The Twitter reactions from this terrifying moment say it all!
Hill took a fastball pretty much directly in the neck and was smiling at first. There's a reason one of his nicknames is "Psycho Rich."

Rich Hill getting HIT IN THE THROAT then pitching a scoreless inning makes me feel like I have no excuse to not do anything ever again

After the game, Dave Roberts said the Hill was on his way to the hospital as a precaution. Thankfully, the x-rays came back negative.

Rich Hill just gave the word “tough” a whole new meaning.
