WATCH: Yasiel Puig Ejected In Spring Game After Strikeout

In the second inning of Thursday’s game against the Cubs, Puig was caught looking on a borderline pitch and was not afraid to let his thoughts on the call go unnoticed.

He promptly slammed his bat against the ground and paid the ultimate price.

Whether you are a Puig fan or not, it is good to see that he values every plate appearance he has, even in the spring.

  1. This was a frame job by the catcher who did his job to make it look like a strike. That’s what he is paid to do to help his pitcher. Clearly it wasn’t though as his mitt drops about a good 2 to 3 inches before picking it back up. Unless Puig is suddenly half a foot shorter in height and the plate is 18 inches wide it’s a bit early in the game to reward a pitcher with that kind of strike 3 call.
I actually want Puig to show emotion like this again. Flipping bats when he launches one into the next zip code. Getting angry at strike 3 calls needs to be tempered a bit but it’s only spring training. Roberts surely counseled him after the game. What’s key is that he’s ejected for abuse of equipment and didn’t say one word to the ump. The wave was amusing though.

  2. While fighting for a starting spot he just dose not get it! And why you ALWAYS stick up for him?
