Yasiel Puig, Ryan Braun Trade Was Closer Than We Thought

The reported trade of Yasiel Puig for Ryan Braun might’ve been even closer to getting done than we thought.

According to USA Today Sports, Puig and Braun were just 20 minutes away from the trade going through. The deal was just about done, save for one last prospect.

Along with Puig, the trade would’ve included Brandon McCarthy and prospects for Braun.

Who Can Be the Dodgers Unsung Heroes in October?

Braun’s teammates were so sure the trade was going through, they were ready to say their goodbyes to him that night.

The teams ran out of time as the deadline passed, but the trade may not be dead.

The Dodgers are one of six teams that Braun, who lives in Los Angeles, has lifted the no-trade provision in his contract for. The outfielder says he’s happy in Milwaukee, but has no problem with being traded.

“I’m completely content with staying in Milwaukee, but it also makes sense for them to consider alternatives because of where we’re at as an organization. If I get traded, it’s got to be a team that wants to win now, and where I really want to go.”

If the Dodgers want to make a play for Braun, they have the assets to do it. Depending on how the Dodgers’ season ends this year, we may see some big moves offseason.
