Greinke and Ruggiano hit consecutive two-out singles in the fourth before Corbin managed to work his way out of the inning without allowing the Dodgers to add to their lead. There was nothing doing for the Diamondbacks in the bottom of the fourth, with Greinke striking out Goldschmidt to end the inning for a second time on the day.

While Greinke had faced the minimum through four innings, Corbin kept the Dodgers off the bases in the fifth, striking out two of the three batters faced. Jarrod Saltalamacchia broke up Greinke’s no-hitter with a one-out double off the left-center field wall in the bottom of the fifth.

Greinke responded by striking out Lamb and Chris Owings to strand Saltalamacchia and preserve his shutout through five innings. Nick Ahmed led off the bottom of the sixth with an infield single and the Diamondbacks eventually had runners on second and third with two outs. However, Greinke again got the better of Goldschmidt by striking him out to end the inning.

Ronald Torreyes, who replaced Peraza at second base in the fifth inning, doubled down the third base line in his first Major League plate appearance. Turner drew a walk on a pitch that was in the dirt, which allowed Torreyes to advance to third base. Keith Hessler was brought in to face Gonzalez, and he promptly gave up an RBI single that extended the Dodgers’ lead to 3-0.

A wild pitch allowed Turner and Gonzalez to advance, and led to Van Slyke being intentionally walked to load the bases. The Diamondbacks got the better of the lefty-on-lefty matchup as Seager flied out to the warning track in center field to end the inning.

A.J. Ellis provided more insurance for the Dodgers in the eighth by connecting on a solo home run to center field. Greinke issued a leadoff walk in the bottom of the eighth, but got through the inning unscathed by inducing a double play and striking out pinch-hitter Peter O’Brien.

For a second consecutive game, Kenley Jansen entered in the ninth with a four-run lead but Sunday was more of a struggle. Jansen struck out the first two batters faced before walking Goldschmidt. Peralta singled to right and Saltalamacchia hit a three-run home run that cut the Dodgers’ lead to 4-3.

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly paid a visit to the mound and decided to leave his closer in the game. Jansen rewarded his manager’s trust by getting Lamb swinging to strikeout the side.
