2015 MLB Draft: Reviewing The Dodgers Picks From Day Two

MLB Draft

PAGES: 1 | 2

Andrew Sopko, RHP (Gonzaga)

Sopko, a Montana native, was drafted by the Padres in 2012 but decided to attend Gonzaga, where he developed into the ace of their staff. In his junior season, he posted a 3.55 ERA in 14 starts with 78 strikeouts in 88.2 innings. He can reach the mid-90s with his fastball and also features a solid breaking ball.

Tommy Bergjans, RHP (Haverford)

When you think of schools that are “baseball factories,” Haverford may not be the first that comes to mind. However, the Dodgers liked Bergjans enough to pop him in the eighth round. Tommy posted video game numbers in D3, striking out a whopping 111 batters in just 67.1 innings. Bergjans features a fastball that gets into the low-90s and adds both a curveball and a changeup. The Manhattan Beach native should have the chance to start in pro ball.

Kevin Brown, RHP (Cal State Dominguez Hills)

No, not that Kevin Brown. The fifth year senior grew up in my hometown of Thousand Oaks, though he went to Newbury Park High School. In 2015, he posted a 3.79 ERA with 67 strikeouts in 73.2 innings. The only real knock I can find on him is that he grew up an Angels fan.

Logan Landon, OF (Texas Pan Am)

Landon may be the most interesting pick of the second day for the Dodgers. After beginning his collegiate career as a pitcher, Logan switched to hitting as a senior. The move turned out to be a stroke of genius, as the South Dakotan ended up hitting .382/.476/.623 with 8 home runs and 17 stolen bases. He also drew as many walks as strikeouts (30).
