2010 Dodgers Home Opener : Experience & Hightlights!

I jump out of bed at 7:00 am in a panic to ensure my jersey is freshly pressed… of course it was, I stared at it as I feel asleep last night. Maybe it was the nightmares of our bullpens recent struggles that ruffled my sleeping feathers enough to result in a panic…I’m not sure, but it was time for breakfast. We depart promptly at 10:30 am, I knew it was going to be a special day once we hit traffic on the I-5 and Burbank Blvd. However, it really didn’t sink in until we paid the 15.00 for general parking. It’s OK though, we’re in a separate zip code from the people still sitting in traffic. As we drive in I see numerous people waving flags in the air, goal in hand to navigate us to their desired parking location. Just being hit for 15.00 parking, I felt the need to resist their parking pressure and felt we paid for the best general parking spot available.

As we enter the stadium at 12:00 pm, we decide we have enough time to either get a drink and garlic fries or use the rest room, but not both. We patiently get in line for our food. Little did I know the parking fee was the least of my worries. A single beer 13.00 , garlic fries 6.50, the look on their face expecting a tip….Priceless. I’m not that cold, I flipped one of the 2 quarters from my change of 20.00 and said, “Hey, that’s .25 more than McCourt spent this off season on an Ace.” All joking aside, we make our way to our seats and soak up the sun and beautiful weather just in time for the opening ceremony.

Highlights:

  • Manny hits his first home run of the season to give the Dodgers the lead and pave the way for a 3 run 4th inning.
  • Casey Blake gets his first home run of the season.
  • Matt Kemp blasts home run #2 in the 5th inning and we see Rihanna dancing like a Fraggle Rock.
  • Andre Ethier delivers a 3 run homer in the 6th to give the dodgers a 9-2 lead.

What about the rest of Dodgers Nation…

How did you take in the home opening? What were your highlights of the game?
