Aside from a Pujols one-out single in the fourth, there was nothing doing for the Angels. Though the inning did include Joc Pederson making a running catch on a ball hit to right-center field to end the inning and potentially prevent a run from scoring.

Cesar Ramos took over for the Angels in the bottom of the fourth and worked around a Grandal bloop single to keep the Dodgers’ lead at 2-0. Latos did the same after Conor Gillaspie led off the sixth with a base hit to left-center field.

Latos and Rollins hit consecutive singles with one out in the bottom of the sixth. However, Kendrick, a triple and single shy of the hitting for the cycle, grounded into an inning-ending double play. Calhoun’s leadoff double in the sixth led to a run as he came around to score two groundouts later.

Juan Nicasio replaced Latos in the seventh and tossed a scoreless inning of relief. Jim Johnson made his Dodgers debut in the eighth inning and gave up a solo home run to Calhoun that tied the game at 2-2. Johnson went on to strikeout Trout and got Pujols to ground out.

Ethier lifted the Dodgers off the mat in the bottom of the eighth with a two-out, solo home run to center field, giving the Dodgers a 3-2 lead. J.P. Howell gave up a leadoff single then recovered to get two outs.

Aybar stole second base on Gillaspie’s strikeout to move into scoring position with the Angels down to their final out. Pedro Baez and Scott Van Slyke then entered as part of a double switch, replacing Howell and Puig, respectively.

Baez’s first pitch was driven to center field by Iannetta, carrying over Pederson’s head and resulting in a game-tying RBI double. Van Slyke was stranded after hitting a two-out single in the bottom of the ninth and the game carried into extra innings.

Baez remained in the game and worked his way through the Angels’ top of the order in the 10th without issue. Drew Rucinski took over for the Angels in the bottom of the 10th and issued a one-out walk to Gonzalez. Ethier added to his big day with a walk-off two run home run.

  1. Great title and poll question. Couldn’t of written it better myself. Mine may have been “Kickin @$$ and takin names in LA”
