Dishing Dodgers 2015 Minor League Awards: Bellinger, De Leon Receive Top Honors
Comeback Player of the Year – Ross Stripling
Stripling would have made his Major-League debut in 2014 if not for a torn UCL in Spring Training that caused him to miss the entire season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. He battled back and returned to the mound on June 14, 2015 for Low-A Great Lakes, tossing four strong innings.
Stripling spent the rest of the season with the Drillers, posting a 3.88 ERA in 13 starts, showing the same four pitch mix that he featured prior to his surgery. It’s great to see him pitching again and it appears to be only a matter of time before he’s in the big leagues.
Manager of the Year – Bill Haselman
The Dodgers had some good managers in their system this year, but Haselman led his team to a championship. Granted, he had some of the organization’s best hitters at his disposal, but he also oversaw a pitching staff that posted a 4.08 ERA in the California League.
