Images of Dodger Stadium Show Impact of Hurricane Hilary

This past weekend, most of Southern California was hit hard by Hurricane Hilary. Luckily, the storm weakened down to a tropical storm by the time it reached California, but it still brought on much rain and flooding.

It was the first tropical storm to make landfall in California in over 80 years, making it an extremely unprecedented event.

One of the areas in Southern California that now appears to have been covered was Dodger Stadium. A new photo that has been circling around the internet shows the entirety of the area around the stadium being covered in water. However, when you look closer, it seems that the area may not be fully flooded. But rather it could be very wet asphalt that from a distance, looks like flooded space.

We also have helicopter footage of the area, proving that the stadium indeed received a good amount of water. It almost looks like an island out there from far away, and is a very interesting photo to see. The city of Los Angeles isn’t used to getting this much water in such a short time, so this is a rare opportunity to see the stadium in this manner.

Major League Baseball switched the Dodgers game against the Miami Marlins that was scheduled for Sunday to Saturday in preparation for the storm. It was played as a doubleheader, and the Dodgers took both games from the Marlins.

The Dodgers’ own social media account even had some fun with the viral photo, posting their own photo of the stadium after everything had passed through.

LA is off on Monday but will return to action Tuesday when they take on the Cleveland Guardians, as they start their road trip this week.
