Dodgers Activate Tommy Kahnle For Final Game of the Series

The Dodgers and Tigers will play one more game on Sunday afternoon to determine the series. After Clayton Kershaw’s historic night on Saturday, the bullpen melted down and the offense went completely silent to give Detroit the win.

This afternoon, the Dodgers will send out Walker Buehler to try and take the series win, facing off against Eduardo Rodriguez. But the good news is that they will also have some bullpen, help. Doc sent out 3 relievers on back-to-back days this weekend.

But the Dodgers are adding Tommy Kahnle into the mix. The right-handed reliever has been sitting out since the Summer of 2020 after undergoing Tommy John surgery with the Yankees. Los Angeles scooped him up on a two-year deal last season in hopes of getting him for a full 2022.

Kahnle is the type of arm that makes it easier for the Dodgers to not have Blake Treinen right now. He is incredibly dominant when healthy, striking out a ton of guys and avoiding hard contact. Adding him to the late innings will be lethal when Treinen is healthy.

Look for him to get the 7th or 8th inning when this bullpen is at full strength. The Dodgers going with Kahnle, Treinen, and Kimbrel could be their recipe for most of the season.
