Dodgers: Andrew Toles Leaves Camelback Ranch

Outfielder Andrew Toles has left the Dodgers’ facility in Camelback Ranch. According to manager Dave Roberts, Toles left to be with his family.

Andrew Toles has had a life and career full of personal issues and this season appears to be another one similar. Toles did not report to Spring Training this spring despite potentially being in line for a 25-man roster spot.

Toles was placed on the restricted list on March 11, prior to the start of the regular season.

Toles came on to the scene for the Dodgers in 2016 and became a fan favorite. In that season, he enjoyed a 131 wRC+ in just 115 plate appearances, also accruing 1.1 WAR.

In his career, he holds an extremely solid .286/.333/.459 slash line with a 110 wRC+.

Toles last played for the big club in 2018, receiving just 32 plate appearances as a September call-up.

Let us hope that Toles is fine with his mental health at the moment, considering his past struggles with anxiety and depression.

My name is Daniel Preciado and I am 19 years old. I am a sophomore Sport Analytics major and Cognitive Science and Economics dual minor at Syracuse University. When I am not in New York, I live in Whittier, California --- not too far from Chavez Ravine. I am pretty old-school for being an analytics guy and I will always embrace debate. Also, Chase Utley did absolutely nothing wrong.

  1. We fans hear so much about batting statistics, and no problem. But what about defensive statistics, such as Puig’s or Verdugo’s throwing ability? How do managers deal with fielders?

  2. First, RIP Bill Buckner. I always enjoyed watching you play for my beloved Dodgers. You left us way too soon. Thanks for the memories.
And, for Mr. Toles, there are obviously some major issues in this story. I can only hope that he has strong people to turn to who can give him sage advice. We could use AT right now!!! Go Blue!!!!
