Dodgers Are Hoping to Have Max Muncy Back for the Padres Series

Friday night was one of those odd wins that have come to define the Dodgers’ season in 2021. With guys injured and out of the lineup, Los Angeles had a few guys step up that originally weren’t supposed to be part of their season plans.

Both Andy Burns and Steven Souza Jr came up with clutch hits late in the game to pull ahead of the Diamondbacks. At the start of the year, no one could have predicted that those 2 guys would make an impact, especially this early on.

But the good news is that the Dodgers are getting some keys guys in the coming days. Dave Roberts gave an update on a few players that should be coming back by next week. One of those guys is Max Muncy.

Muncy has been out since June 11th with an oblique strain. The Dodgers have said several times that they did not expect him to be out long, and Muncy did take batting practice with the team on Friday in Arizona.

Roberts also revealed that the Dodgers are hoping Muncy can return during the Padres series next week. Doc said that the second or third game of that series would be a reasonable timetable should everything go as planned.

That would also line up with a return from Cody Bellinger. The Dodgers outfielder has been running at full strength at Camelback Ranch after sustaining a hamstring injury. But the good news is that some key pieces should be back for a big series.
