Julio Urias did everything he could for the Dodgers on Wednesday afternoon. He pitched 6 strong innings and allowed the Nationals to scratch across a single run. Unfortunately for him, that was all Washington needed with Los Angeles’ offense going cold.
But one particular at-bat in this one got the attention of Dodgers fans. If you haven’t seen in online yet, it took place between Julio and superstar outfielder Juan Soto. It also came at a potentially huge moment in the game if LA could’ve gotten a run.
With 2 on and 1 out in the 6th inning, Soto stepped in against Julio. He got the quick strike on him at the top of the zone followed by a foul ball to take the count to 0-2. That’s when Soto started to put up one heck of a fight that went viral.
Julio eventually won the battle, dropping in a surprise curveball right over the heart of the plate to get Soto looking. But it was a fun battle, and probably the only entertaining part of that game for Dodgers fans. They went on to drop the game 1-0 before getting out of DC.
Up next, the Dodgers will take on the Diamondbacks in Arizona for a 4-game series starting tonight. Mitch White will get the start for Los Angeles as he continues to fill in for some of the injured starting pitchers.
