The Dodgers and Cardinals are set to open a 4-game series in St Louis starting this afternoon. Coming off of a series loss to their NL West rival Giants, Los Angeles really needs to find a way to win at least 3 of 4.
They will also need some help in the bullpen after a heavy reliever weekend in San Francisco. The Dodgers went with a bullpen game on Friday that ended up going into extra innings. Sunday was another heavy bullpen game after Walker Buehler got knocked around early.
To help with that for this series, the Dodgers made a bullpen move ahead of Monday’s game. They selected the contract of RHP Neftalí Féliz and he was added to the active roster. He will be available to pitch out of the bullpen today.
Féliz pitched 1 game for the Dodgers before being designated for assignment on August 24th. In that 1 appearance, he tossed a scoreless frame against the Mets. It was odd the way that they DFA’d him after just 1 solid outing, but he is back with the team now.
In order to make room on the active roster, the Dodgers optioned LHP Andrew Vasquez back to Triple-A. Vasquez pitched in 2 games this weekend and allowed 1 unearned run in 1.2 innings with 3 punchouts.
