Dodgers: Brusdar Graterol A Little Behind in His Progression

The Dodgers are in a position to have a very good bullpen in 2021. With so many starters set to duke it out in the rotation, some excess arms are sure to be pushed into relief. As such, the team can afford slow play guys that are in need of some extra time.

One of those guys for the Dodgers is Brusdar Graterol. Almost a week into Cactus League games, we have not had the chance to see the Bazooka get into a game quite yet. Graterol will no doubt be a big part of the bullpen plans this year.

The latest update from Dave Roberts is that Brusdar is a little behind everyone else. The Dodgers reliever was not able to throw as often as they would have liked in the offseason, so he has yet to throw off of a mound.

He’s coming along really well. There were some things this winter that didn’t allow for him to get off the mound and throw as consistently as he would have liked coming into camp. Just to make sure he stays healthy — the ramp-up has been a little bit different for him but he’ll be on the mound in the next day or two.

It’s worth noting that it’s not unusual to have a pitcher that still has not thrown off of a mound by now. The Dodgers are also historically good at pacing guys who only get 1 innings out during Spring Training.

Brudar will start to throw off of a mound in the coming days, and then they can decide when he gets into a game. The Dodgers are operating on a similar schedule for Joe Kelly, who was out sick from camp for a few days.
