Dodgers: Brusdar Graterol Goes Above and Beyond in Being a Great Person

The Dodgers adding Brusdar Graterol right before the season started might have been one of the best low key pickups of the year. The rookie reliever has quickly become a fan favorite, and as it turns out, a favorite amongst players.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts talked about the addition of Graterol and what he brings to the team. Doc felt that The Bazooka had quickly become one of the most popular guys around the clubhouse.

I think that he’s probably the most popular player n the clubhouse as far as guys gravitating towards him. He’s just very authentic and sincere. I just learned that he bought his mom a house back in Venezuela. So that’s something that he’s very proud of and rightfully so. His youthful enthusiasm is certainly refreshing.

Youthful enthusiasm is a great way to describe what Brusdar brings to the Dodgers every day. Even though he’s out in the bullpen, he still finds a way to get involved in every single game in terms of celebrations or encouragement.

The fact that the rookie also bought his mom a house just adds to the love that we all share for him. The Red Sox were supposed to get Graterol as a part of the Mookie Betts trade, but had concerns about his medicals. Thus, Kenta Maeda went to Minnesota in a separate trade for the Dodgers to acquire the Bazooka.

Graterol has appeared in 12 games for the Dodgers out of the bullpen. He has pitched to a 2.57 earned run average and struck out 7 while only allowing 1 walk. Graterol also falls into the top 8 percent of the league in terms of barrel percentages allowed to opposing hitters. Graterol’s rookie status is intact through the 2020 season.

  1. What a great pickup a young player that throws at 100 mph with movement. Friedman built the best bullpen I can remember the Dodgers ever having Top to bottom.

  2. The Bazooka looks like he could be the closer of the future as he gets better. Btw, don’t many players buy houses for their families back home?
