Dodgers: Bryce Harper Looking Forward to Seeing Where Trea Turner Ends Up

The contract situation with Trea Turner is going to be something to watch out for all year. The Dodgers apparently did not plan to offer him an extension before the season, and it’s unclear if anything there has changed.

So as it stands, Trea is set to hit free agent this offseason. That’s an interesting spot for the Dodgers considering they do not have a big-league shortstop waiting in the wings. So letting him go would likely mean they were in the market.

But Bryce Harper is starting his Trea campaign early. When asked by Bob Nightengale this week about Turner, the perennial MVP candidate had a lot of really good things to say about him. And it sounds like he wouldn’t mind having the Dodgers shortstop on his team.

“I think Trea Turner is one of the most underrated players in the game. He’s one of those guys that just goes under the radar. He’s one of the best shortstops in the game. I’m excited to see where he goes next year.”

Dodgers fans have to feel a little bit nervous about what might happen with Trea. He was part of that Max Scherzer deal, and many assumed he would get a long-term deal when Corey Seager went out and signed a big deal with the Rangers. That never happened.

There is still a chance, but big extensions in the middle of the season aren’t very common, especially with a guy who should be the most sought-after position player on the market next year.
