Dodgers By The Numbers: LA Tops Baseball America Power Rankings List

The Los Angeles Dodgers are the best in the biz when it comes to wins, winning percentage, and a whole lot more. On Friday, the club rightfully topped yet another MLB power rankings list.

For Baseball America, Kyle Glaser cites LA’s league-leading run differential as a stat that best tells the story for their season so far.

66: The number of runs the Dodgers have outscored their opponents by this season. The next-closest team, the Twins, has outscored their opponents by 39 runs. Eight of the Dodgers’ 19 wins have come by at least five runs, including their latest win Thursday.

The top five list when it comes to run differential looks like this:

  1. LAD (+66)
  2. MIN (+39)
  3. OAK (+31)
  4. CLE (+31)
  5. HOU (+29) bang bang

With the bats, the club leads all of baseball in home runs (50), runs batted in (145), and runs scored (151). And their doing this with a team on-base-plus-slugging of .777 (4th in the NL).

Of course, the Dodgers aren’t just doing it on offense. In fact, the pitching staff has been at or near the top of the league in most categories all season long. Their 2.72 team ERA is best in the National League and second in all of baseball. However, the bullpen has stood out as a powerhouse for the boys in blue.

  • ERA 1.85 (1st)
  • Opp. AVG .186 (2nd)
  • WHIP 1.00 (2nd)
  • HLD 20 (3rd)
  • WAR 2.0 (3rd)

As mentioned at the start, Los Angeles owns the most wins in the league (19) and boasts the best winning percentage in baseball at .704. Moreover, they also own the National League’s best winning percentage on the road with a .786 mark, having gone 11-3 away from Dodger Stadium.

The Dodgers start a three-game series with the Colorado Rockies — their first matchup of the season — at home this weekend. The season reaches its half-way point at the completion of that series.

  1. We LOVE our Dodgers!!! You all deserve the Top ranking that you have received because of your dedication and love for the game of baseball. All Dodger Fans support you 100%. And this will be your year to WIN the World Series!!!! Lets Go Dodgers!! This Dodger Girls believes in you.

  2. We will always miss Honeycutt but Mark Pryor has been outstanding as the new pitching coach.
The Dodger lead or are at the top of the league in many stats and have Bellinger and Muncy still in slumps that bodes well for the future as both players are not going to continue to struggle all year. Bellinger looks better the last few days and is finally batting over .200! Muncy still at .160 though.
Buhler had his first dominant game and Kershaw and the other starters have not been as good as they will be as the season progresses.
Almost at the half way point in this incredibly short season. Bullpen has shined…
