The roster will be getting more crowded soon.

Dodgers utility man Chris Taylor has been out for quite some time now after suffering a fractured forearm in a mid-July game against the Boston Red Sox. The team released some good news today, however, on his progress and hopeful return.

Taylor was previously rehabbing with Alex Verdugo at Camelback Ranch as the Dodgers traveled to Miami for their series against the Marlins. He will start at shortstop when he suits up for the quakes tonight.

The Dodgers could use Taylor’s batting and fielding abilities to add some depth as the team faces a few other injuries. Most notably, Kiké Hernandez and Verdugo are both out as well and hoping their returns soon.

Kristopher Negron figures to be on the hot seat for an immediate roster spot for CT3’s return, but his versatility may prove to be more valuable than Kyle Garlick. Rosters expand on September 1st.

This season Taylor is batting .261 with 8 home runs, 41 runs batted in, and a .787 OPS in 90 games.

If he can get himself going and maybe even recapture some of the magic that led him to win the 2017 NLCS MVP, the Dodgers could add another productive bat to an already dangerous lineup.

I’m currently a junior at Pomona College in Claremont, CA, and I have a passion for sports journalism. I grew up in the LA area and am a diehard fan of the Dodgers, Lakers, Rams, UCLA, Kings. My favorite Dodgers memory was watching Kershaw tear up after the team won the 2017 NLCS and advanced to the World Series for the first time in his career. After college, I plan on either pursuing a career as a sports journalist or working in sports law.
