Dodgers: Chris Taylor Wins Play of the Week With His Game-Ending Throw

The throw from Chris Taylor to end the game and series against the Padres was amazing. It was the first time that it felt like real baseball all season for me. For Dodgers fans, it was easily one of the biggest moments of the young season.

Taylor was officially recognized by MLB for the throw, winning play of the week honors. He is the second Dodgers player to earn the award in a matter of weeks. Mookie Betts took the honor the week before after his ridiculous 300 foot throw to third base to get Ketel Marte trying to take an extra base. 

Taylor’s throw to home plate was clocked at 93.3 mph via Statcast. The one-hop throw to Will Smith ended the Padres’ threat in the bottom of the 9th and won the series. The Dodgers took two out of three games with that throw. It also could not have come at a better time, as the Padres were indeed rallying late in the game.

The Dodgers will once again start a series with the Padres tonight, this time in Los Angeles. The two NL West teams will play four games, so expect plenty of action of the offensive side of things. The red hot Fernando Tatis Jr will be one guy to watch throughout these four games. 

Dustin May gets the start in game one going against Luis Perdomo. The Padres pushed Garrett Richards’ start to tomorrow, opting for Perdomo tonight.
