Dodgers Clayton Kershaw on Record Breaking Performance vs. Marlins

Clayton Kershaw earned his 12th win, en route to a 9-1 win by the Dodgers, against the Miami Marlins.

Clayton Kershaw was blazing past the Marlins batters tonight, as he struck out the first 7 batters he faced, set a new franchise record, and improved his record to 12-2. He’s proving time and time again why he’s the greatest pitcher of this generation.

Kershaw’s stat line tonight: 7 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 10 K.

Following the win, Kershaw spoke to Dodgers reporter, Alanna Rizzo.

Clayton Kershaw on if he sensed that he had something special going on tonight:

“You know, it’s still a little early, I gave up a hit 4th or 5th inning, so it’s still a little early to think about anything there, but it’s good to kind of get that rhythm, you know, 3 up, 3 down, get your guys back in the dugout, especially the way that we’re swinging the bats, but I didn’t think anything special of it tonight.”

Clayton Kershaw on his performance and recording 10 K’s:

“Yeah, you know, sometimes you just get into that groove early, and we scored three runs in the top of the first. Tonight, I was able to get ahead, did a decent job of fastball command.”

Clayton Kershaw on getting an extra day of rest before this start:

“Yeah, I had like a mini All-Star break basically. I had 8 days off, so I think that was part of it too. It’s not ideal obviously I think more than anything you just want to be able to stay in that rhythm, one day, every once in a while, but obviously you have the understand the bigger picture here, of what we’re trying to do, and it’s set up better for everybody, just kind of roll with it, and go on.”
