Dodgers Clinch Home Field Advantage Through NLCS In Victory Over Padres

The Dodgers looked like a force to be reckoned with in Tuesday’s 9-2 victory over the Padres, and boy was it fun to watch. From the solid performance from Alex Wood and the bullpen to the offense coming alive, everything seemed to be working perfectly. The win also secures home field advantage all the way through the NLCS, which is great for Los Angeles considering they are 56-24 at Dodger Stadium!

Let’s take a look at how Tuesday’s dominant win went down!

The Dodgers would get on the board first in the bottom of the 3rd thanks to an RBI groundout off the bat of Cody Bellinger, scoring Chase Utley from third base!

Then the Padres would get their only runs of the game in the top of the 5th when Alex Wood gave up a couple of solo shots to Christian Villanueva and Hunter Renfroe. Luckily, Yasmani Grandal would answer in the bottom of the 5th with a three-run shot, putting the Dodgers up 4-2! The Dodgers would collect another run the next inning thanks to a Corey Seager RBI single, making the score 5-2.

Alex Wood ended up being pulled after 6 innings, giving up the two runs on eight hits. Josh Fields, Tony Watson, and Brock Stewart would each pitch an inning to finish the game and only gave up one hit between the three of them.

The Padres were close to getting another run in the top of the 7th but Cody Bellinger had other plans.

Then the Dodger bats would take off in the bottom of the 7th, scoring four runs on a solo shot by Adrian Gonzalez and a three-run blast by Corey Seager!

Check out all of the home runs from Tuesday below!

Scoring nine runs and winning is always fun, but it’s even more fun when you see the players that got it done on Tuesday. Watching Seager go 2-4 with a home run, Grandal go 1-4 with a home run, and Gonzalez go 2-4 with a double and a home run is so reassuring heading into October. Hopefully these players can continue to have good at-bats because we will need them in the playoffs!
