Dodgers All-Stars Cody Bellinger and Clayton Kershaw helped convince a young Dodger fan to not give up on baseball, and keep pursuing his dream.
This is part of the ongoing “Don’t Retire, Kid” campaign which is in place to motivate youth sports participants to keep their love and heart in the game, even in tough times.
The young Dodger fans name is Colt. He is just 9 years old, and he took a break from playing youth baseball, while going through a tough time this summer. He was close to quitting, because he was getting tired of it.
However, Cody Bellinger and Clayton Kershaw were able to change Colt’s mind.
Bellinger and Kershaw gave great advice to Colt. Sports isn’t all about winning and losing. Of course, any competitor would want to win, but it’s also about meeting new people, making new friends, creating a bond with the team, and the team becoming your second family, along with many other benefits.
Bellinger and Kershaw inspired Colt, and he decided to keep playing baseball, because of all the memories he has made, and will make in the future.

This is what it’s all about. Thanks for your letter Colt, we’re so happy you’re sticking with baseball!! #Repost @superdrew76 with @get_repost ??? Colt wanted to take a break from playing baseball over the summer and wasn’t sure if he wanted to play anymore. Then he watched these videos from @cody_bellinger and @claytonkershaw that were posted through the @dodgersfoundation . Their words had such impact on him that he wanted to write a letter back to them! Thank you @dodgers and @espn for caring enough to do campaigns like this, and inspire the youth! Your words had a huge impact on my 9 year old! Swipe right to see the video #dontretirekid
