Dodgers’ Cody Bellinger Receives 2017 NL Rookie Of The Year Award

Is it really any surprise? On Monday, the Baseball Writers Association of America voted Cody Bellinger as the unanimous 2017 National League Rookie of the Year! On the American League side of things, Aaron Judge was voted the unanimous 2017 Rookie of the Year, making it just the fourth time in MLB history that both recipients were unanimous winners.

Cody Bellinger debuted in San Francisco on April 25th and fans immediately fell in love. He ended the season with a slash line of .267/.352/.581, 39 home runs (1st on Dodgers), 97 runs batted in (1st on Dodgers), and an OPS of .933. His 39 home runs were also the second most in the National League, only behind Giancarlo Stanton’s 59 home runs. Even better, those 39 home runs are the most ever hit by a National League rookie!

I have to give a lot of credit to Paul and Josh too, unbelievable players. And like I said, to take this award home with me is really special.

  1. Of all Cody’s homeruns, the one he hit in NY was by far the most hair raising of them all bc of the sound he made when bat met ball! It truly sounded like a gun going off! The coolest sound I’ve ever heard off a homerun! When Cody connects it’s usually flush!
