Dodgers: Cody Bellinger Working Through Side Issue, Could Miss Wednesday’s Game
Cody Bellinger was noticeably absent from the Dodgers lineup on Tuesday. It was more of a shocker considering it came after an off day for the team. However, according to Dave Roberts via SNLA’s Alanna Rizzo, there was a good reason.
Alanna Rizzo confirms a sore lat/side muscle for Cody Bellinger held him out of tonight's #Dodgers game. The club isn't concerned about it being a major issue going forward.

A minor side issue Belli suffered before the game held him out of the lineup for precautionary reasons. After the game, Doc elaborated.
It happened in the cage right before batting practice, he was swinging and he felt it on his right lat [latissimus dorsi]. So it wasn’t oblique, it was more up there in the lat and he just felt it tighten up. So we didn’t want to push it. He ran today, threw today, felt good, and we just kinda wanted to err on the side of caution.
Moreover, Roberts said that the 2019 NL MVP wouldn’t need to undergo any further testing like an MRI, instead the evaluation was with the training staff, which he passed. So now the question is, will he be in the lineup on Wednesday?
We gotta see. Talking to him today and tonight, he felt better with treatment, but it’s one of those things, we’re gonna let him get loose tomorrow — go through his routine and see where we’re at.
Gauging from the way Dave talked about the issue, I wouldn’t feel too uncomfortable with penciling Cody into your fantasy lineup on Wednesday night. More than likely if Tuesday’s game carried more weight, he would have been in the lineup at DH and batting third. Bellinger is batting .305 with a 1.169 OPS and 8 home runs over his last 16 games, raising his season average from .165 to .225.
