Dodgers: Corey Seager’s Record-Breaking Playoff Performance in 2020

Corey Seager is having one heck of a National League Championship Series. In fact, he’s having historic postseason altogether. The Dodgers shortstop is doing something that no other shortstop in history has ever done.

Through 10 playoff games, Corey Seager is absolutely tearing the cover off of the ball. He has 9 extra-base hits and has driven in 14 runs for the Dodgers. In short, he’s a big part of the team’s success thus far. Los Angeles almost certainly doesn’t make it to Game 6 of the NLCS without him playing in the middle infield on a daily basis.

But on Friday evening in a huge win over the Braves, Seager reached a whole new level. His 2 homeruns in the game got him to 4 in the NLCS. Those 4 homeruns are more than any shortstop in a postseason series in MLB history. While the first bomb put the Dodgers on the board, his second extended their lead and helped lead Los Angeles to a huge win.

For Dodgers fans, Seager’s performance comes as no surprise in 2020. Seager being completely healthy for the first time since 2017 has dramatically changed his game. He finished up the shortened season slashing .307/.358/.585 and putting up a career-high .943 OPS.

Up Next for the Dodgers

The Dodgers and Braves will be going at it again Saturday afternoon in Game 6 of the Championship Series. Los Angeles will be fighting to tie up the series while the Braves will be looking to punch their World Series tickets.

  1. Seager is carrying the team on his back. When Mookie gets on the team scores. Will Smith has had some big hits. Muncey needs to be moved down in the line up. He is not a clean up hitter at this time to take the pressure off. Try Pollack not Belly who is having an awful season. The team needs to score without hitting HRS. Try bunting someone over when the shift is on. Bunt when no one is on if they are into a shift. Some old style baseball! Hit to the opposite field.

  2. Agreed. Seager has been utterly locked in and is having an amazing post season. Thank you, Corey! Although our Dodgers should work on playing more strategic small ball, we will take the HRs as long as they get us the W. (Smith’s HR was sweet.) Last night, we saw some great defense and offense when we needed it most. Let’s keep it up, guys and bring it this afternoon! Go Dodgers!

  3. Thank you, Dodgers for a Game 7!!! Be ready to bring tomorrow what you brought to the last 2 consecutive games and we can do this thing. Like some of us have been saying, ” its not over until its over.” Go Dodgers!!!
