Dodgers: Dave Roberts Claims No Barometer for 2019 Dodgers

After an 8-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday night, manager Dave Roberts exuded nothing but confidence. He believes the Dodgers remain the class of the sport and he has every right to believe so:

He is right in every essence. There is no barometer or a ceiling for these 2019 Dodgers. Every time we set a certain expectation level for this season, the club finds a way to exceed them and play above what anyone expects.

For example, players like Matt Beaty and Kristopher Negron proving to be capable of near-everyday playing time on top of the already loaded offensive force is a pleasant surprise. Add in rookies like Dustin May and Tony Gonsolin as well as reliever Casey Sadler proving to be worthwhile, the team is so depth-oriented that there is simply no ceiling for these 2019 Dodgers.

The Dodgers entered today tied with the New York Yankees for the best winning percentage in baseball at .649 and are now in a class by themselves after Monday night’s win.

Sure the Astros acquired Zack Greinke at the deadline, but the Dodgers remain, at the very least, clear-cut leaders in the National League.

There is no barometer for the 2019 Dodgers. They set the bar.

My name is Daniel Preciado and I am 19 years old. I am a sophomore Sport Analytics major and Cognitive Science and Economics dual minor at Syracuse University. When I am not in New York, I live in Whittier, California --- not too far from Chavez Ravine. I am pretty old-school for being an analytics guy and I will always embrace debate. Also, Chase Utley did absolutely nothing wrong.

  1. Yes with a potential lineup in 2020 of Muncy, Lux, Seager, Turner, Smith, Bellinger, Verdugo and Pollock they have a very young cost controlled lineup. Bench of Beaty, Hernandez and Taylor plus ???
Rotation of Kershaw, Buehler, Urias, and then potentially re-signing Ryu and bringing up May, Gonsolin or others. Best way ram in NL and matches up with anyone in MLB…And a number 3 rated Farm team
