Dodgers: David Price Tests Positive For COVID-19; Moved to IL

Prior to first pitch of the Dodgers-Padres Sunday matinee, veteran pitcher David Price was placed on the injured list. At the time, the team did not announce an official reason for the designation. After the game, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts announced that Price, who is vaccinated, had tested positive for COVID-19. MLB.com’s Juan Toribio was one of the first to report the news.

In a corresponding roster move, the Dodgers recalled right-handed pitcher Reyes Moronta. Moronta had made six appearances with the Oklahoma City Dodgers (Triple-A). Moronta pitched a scoreless seventh inning in the Dodgers 10-2 blowout win over the Padres.

Per MLB rules, there is not a minimum for days on the injury list for players that test positive for COVID. Meaning, Price can be activated once he has cleared protocols.
